evolution
music is there since time immemorial. people used to express their feelings thru music in all parts of the world. in india music is considered to be divine. saraswathi carries a veena, narada carries a veena, nandhi plays mridanga and these have references in the vedhas itself. and all these instruments are used in carnatic music only. not in any other music.
what i mean to say is 'what is called as carnatic music today was the first system of music in the world'. in entire india there was only one music system. later after so many invasions in the north, the music also had a tremendous change in that part of the country and a new genre evolved which we now call as hindustani music. actually carnatic music is pure hindustani. hindustani music is videshi.
you could have noticed that carnatic music has only bhakthi compositions. here music was never separated from divinity. all the trinity's compositions are on divine forms only. we never separated music and divinity. so there was no change in its usage.
(there are compositions other than bhakthi. u can find it in the following posts)
